The Heyworth School District is an PK-12 district located in Heyworth, approximately 13 miles south of Bloomington-Normal. The district is approximately 100 square miles in size. District student enrollment is 898. Enrollment has stayed consistent for the past several years. The District employs 109 full-time staff members and an additional 11 part-time staff members.

The District’s Mission is to prepare all students for success, and we are committed to making sure all students are challenged and supported in their learning experiences. Over the past 15 years, the Heyworth School District has gone through many changes. Our new Senior High School addition was finished in 2006, accompanied by our new Hornet Stadium and all weather track. In 2019 our new district office, weight room and community fitness center, along with Hornet Gymnasium were added onto our existing Junior/Senior High School.

Our Junior/Senior High recently was awarded exemplary status via our Illinois Report Card designations in 2023, and our elementary school designation is commendable. Our students consistently outperform the state average on state assessment and continue to be successful after high school. We pride ourselves on offering a broad curriculum with extensive dual credit course offerings, a variety of fine arts programs, in addition to college and career readiness programs. We recognize the importance of extracurricular activities and encourage all students to be involved based on their interests and talents.

Heyworth is predominantly a rural area with agriculture as the primary economic factor. Heyworth allows for rural experience along with the quick commute to major employers in the Bloomington-Normal area. The growth of the District and the changing demographics created by the growth have strengthened the district in many ways. Families moving into the Heyworth School District often cite the schools as one of the main reasons for relocation. This attitude is reflected in the number of parents who take an active role in their children's education. We are very proud of our students, staff, families and community.
