The Heyworth Organization of Parents and Educators (H.O.P.E.) is a 501c3 non-profit organization. The mission of this organization is to promote the education and welfare of all students, to foster communication to unite educator, parent and student in a cooperative effort to promote the academic, social and physical development of each child and to provide the resources necessary to accomplish activities which are in harmony with the purposes of our organization. Membership is open to all parents, teachers and community members within Unit 4 that subscribe to the policies and bylaws of the organization. 

HOPE organizes events throughout the year such as the Santa breakfast, assemblies for the students with outside presenters, staff appreciation events, play day for students, and family fun events. We work collaboratively with the school’s administrative team, with other Heyworth organizations and businesses, and with parents in order to bring the best experience to our students and staff.  

One of the biggest amount of funds given back to students and staff is through teacher grants that are awarded twice a year. Teachers must submit a proposal, introduce the proposal and HOPE votes on whether it is a good use of funds. In the past, teacher grants have been used to spruce up a space with sensory items, books, manipulatives, spike ball, headphones, dinosaur materials, outdoor artwork, ukuleles, pickle ball, educational games and subscriptions. Additionally, HOPE upkeeps all three playgrounds at HES, provides Hornet pride t-shirts to every student and teacher, and provides pizza with the principal monthly.

The Hornet Walk is our largest fundraiser of the year for HOPE and the main source of income for the budget. Many hours and volunteers help make the Hornet Walk a huge success every year. With the addition of online donations, we started to see a huge boost in donations a few years ago. We also host dine to donate events monthly and families can donate on Skyward any time to boost the HOPE budget.

At times throughout the year, HOPE will request in kind donations from families to assist with events for teachers and students. We appreciate the family and community support, no matter how big or small. This could come in the form of monetary donations or volunteering your time to help HOPE create amazing events for our students and staff. We always need creative minds and ideas and would love to welcome you to a monthly meeting.
