Weather-Related School Closing and Early Dismissal Information

The Board has authorized the Superintendent to close the schools in the event of hazardous weather or other emergencies which endanger the safety of students, staff, or school property.  The information will also be posted on the District website and social media pages. School cancellations and early dismissals will be communicated to parents via the school messaging system.

SCHOOL CANCELLATION: 

• School cancellation decisions are made as early as possible and are generally announced prior to 6 a.m. 

• If the district uses an e-learning day when school is canceled, elementary assignments will be posted on the school website by 9:00 a.m. (under Families - eLearning). Junior High and High School assignments will be posted on Google Classroom by 9:00 a.m. Teachers will be reachable by email from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Teachers can answer questions and provide support as needed during this timeframe.

• Cancellation of extra-curricular events is handled separately as it requires coordination with other schools. Activity and event cancellations will be communicated to parents via social media and normal communication mediums (Team Reach, cell, etc) used by coaches and sponsors.

• The Before and After School Care Program at the elementary school will be closed when school is canceled. 

EARLY DISMISSAL:

• Early dismissal decisions are made as early as possible, and every effort will be made to provide at least one hour notice to parents. Activity and event cancellations will be communicated to parents via social media and normal communication mediums (Team Reach, cell, etc) used by coaches and sponsors.

• The After School Care Program at the elementary school will close one hour after early dismissal.
